The actress Anna Chancellor is a descendant of Jane Austen’s. She took the role of Miss Bingley in the BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, starring Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet and Colin Firth as Mr Darcy.
