Summer afternoon – to me these have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”

Today’s Friday Food for Thought is from Henry James (1843 – 1916), author, critic and playwright.  James reputedly made this remark to the novelist Edith Wharton as they sat in the grounds of Bodiam Castle in East Sussex.

Did you know?

In 2016 Henry James was featured on the 89c stamp in the USA’s Literary Arts series:

  1. Ah – I’ve just spent some lovely summer afternoons in East Sussex – including a visit to Virgnia Woolf’s house. Very literary county…
